Just over a year ago, Rad Radio was born... Peter Williamson and his daughter, Sarah, had the idea after recording some radio shows for a Torquay based radio station "We wanted to create our own radio station to be able to play the sort of music we're fond of and to help promote unsigned bands"
The Internet based station, which runs from Whittington, has gone from strength to strength over just one year, reaching over 250,000 listeners in its first year from all over the world including USA, Australia, and many more as well as the UK.
The Presenters who work for Rad Radio include professional Presenters such as Barry James, Mark Stafford, Martin Turner & Dave Turton who have worked for Radio Caroline and many others. Also, there are musicians who have turned DJ such as Pete and Sarah themselves who belong to the rock band 'Anubis', Mark White from 'Warlord UK' and Sy Keeler from 'Onslaught' Rad's latest additions are Pete Simcoe and Keith Reynolds, Pete also being a musician and Keith being a local music promoter who runs the event 'Gigfest'
The music on Rad is a mix of rock, blues, metal, ambient and their sub genres, there is also a separate stream for classical music which is the newest genre to be added to Rad.

"We feel there is a little something for a mixture of people on Rad Radio and we hope everyone who reads this will take a listen"
Rad Radio encourages bands in the above genres to send MP3s of their music to this address “firstname.lastname@example.org” "We play music by signed and unsigned artists. We particularly like to hear from unsigned artists as we love to support those who need that kind of platform to advertise their music."
The Rad Team decided to take the project one step further by organising a festival! There are many festivals happening in the UK!. We can never compete with the large fests, but we sometimes find the smaller ones aren't quite 'proper' festivals with campsites, just all dayers happening over one, two or three days! We wanted to create something of affordable quality and we believe we've acheived this. RADFEST will take place over three days, May 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The event will be held on Penmaenau farm in Builth Wells (next door to the Royal Welsh showground) and will include bands such as Breed 77, (from London),Massacre (from Florida), The Shanklin Freakshow (Isle of Wight), PLUS the only UK date for the band 'Cancer' who have recently reformed with their original line up.
The festival is priced at £58 for the whole weekend or £30 for a day ticket. Weekend price includes camping, parking by tents, showers etc...
Check the website for full details and competition to meet 'Breed 77' backstage (you can even interview them if you want)!
