So we continue our round up of the year’s metal festivals. August alone has nearly a dozen festivals all over Europe catering to all budgets so once again there is very little reason not to grab the tent, some beers and a ticket to a great weekend.
Wacken Open Air 2014 will take place in Wacken, Germany on Thursday 31 July 2014 – Saturday 02 August 2014. Emperor, King Diamond and Amon Amarth are among the bands that will perform at the Wacken Open Air 2014 festival.
Resurrection Fest 2014 will take place in Viveiro, Spain on July 31 – August 02, 2014. NOFX, Amon Amarth and Sick of it All are among the bands that will perform this year.
Party.San OpenAir will take place in Schlotheim, Flugplatz, Germany on August 7-9, 2014. Bands like Obituary and Napalm Death are on the bill.
Brutal Assault 2014 will take place in Jaroměř – Old Army Fortress Josefov, Czech Republic, on August 6-9, 2014. Amon Amarth, My Dying Bride, Venom, The Devin Townsend Project, Satyricon and many more have been added to the bill, so this promises to be a scorcher.
Bloodstock Open Air will take place in Catton Park, Derbyshire, UK on August 7-10, 2014. Each year the line-up somehow improves year after year, and this year will see the likes of Down, Emperor and Megadeth headlining with quality acts like Saxon, Hatebreed and Carcass also on the bill. Not only that but P Club faves Evil Scarescrow will be strutting their stuff on the main stage too, so get ready to do the Robototron with thousands of people this year!
Summer Breeze Festival will take place in Dinkelsbühl, Germany on August 14-16, 2014. Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom and Hypocrisy are all booked to play, as well as Down and Testament among others.
Alt-Fest will be on between 14th-17th August in Kettering, UK. This is a brand new festival with an incredible line up over many stages. Already booked are heavy hitters such as Marilyn Manson, Killing Joke, Arch Enemy and Cradle of Filth, not to mention bands that have graced the P Club stage including Onslaught, Beholder, Kremated, Bull-Riff Stampede and Wretched Soul.
Everyone is skint and exhausted so we have no festivals
Hard Rock Hell Halloween 13th - 16th November, HAFAN Y MOR, PWLLHELI, GWYNND, NTH WALES. A varied line up covering classic hard rock and metal.
Damnation Festival in Leeds University Union, Leeds on 1st November, will be featuring Bolt Thrower performing their only UK show for the 'foreseeable future'.
As of the time of writing there are no more details of festivals this far off but if you've done August right you won't have much money left or much of a liver...
There is a music festival happening somewhere every month until August, when we have 10 and this list quite probably misses a few, so you have no reason to not enjoy a fantastic weekend with some friends. If you think it will get expensive there are festivals for every pocket and many volunteering opportunities if you're willing to litter pick for a couple of hours. There are also a massive number of competitions and schemes such as https://www.fanteamz.co/welcome/ to help you earn/win tickets.
If you've never been before and not sure what you need to know have a look my festival survival guide, at an article from last year. Alternatively if you happen to win silly amounts of money and need to take some people with you on a year long festival tour give us a call.
